Any advice on good or correct sizes would be great. Luff, leech, foot!
Size of spinnie pole would be helpful to.

44 people have viewed this, but no comments or replies.

Does anyone know the answer???????.........

Sail makers will give you a guide without cost but my experience is that it is a bit of an art rather than a science.

Ours came off a Hunter 32 (foretriangle is not dissimilar although the 32 is fractional rig).

It is quite big for a Sabre! Picture in owners gallery under "Huzzah".

Goes from masthead to over pulpit and is quite wide as well; I think the pole is over 3 metres long but it helps massively downwind, where a Sabre really struggles with low sail area.

Hi Chris,
Corsair rarely flies a spinny these days but I do use the 'Cruiser' often, launched from a 'Sock' and I have a multi length adustable pole which stowes easily on the side deck and covers all poling out needs, inc a long whisker. It is brilliant!

It is also expensive, but worth every penny if you can afford to take the long view!

Products - Spinnaker and Gennaker - page 136, pole number: 060-060-50
Stowes: 2.530m - Spin: 3.000m - Whisker: 3.600m to 4.500m

I can't help with the sail sizes, ask Robert Kemp, he has made all my sails since the late 80's.

Thanks Folks for your replies, I'll continue searching.
Hoping to get a cruising shute for the summer so needed to know what's best.
Thanks for the help. Tug

Chris,
I had similar questions, but as you have discovered nobody seems to want to give dimenions of the sails they already have. In the end I purchased a couple, one off here and one off ebay, both relatively cheap, one larger than the other. Originally felt larger was to big but when I took the larger one to my local sailmaker to see about getting it cut down, even he was reluctant to advise me what the ideal dimension are. After trials, since ascertained it works fine and decided to keep both for now and see how they go in different wind strengths.
I can probably measure them next time I am down the boat if you still require dimensions, but as one of the other responders said, it appears to be a bit of guess work, if you get one with a luff that fits, the rest will probably follow..

Thanks Tony,

Good info. What I really need is a rough Luff & Foot measurement as a guide-line to give me an idea as I search for a second hand shute.
If you get a chance to measure them that would be great.
Every and any bit of info is a bonus!

Thanks for the reply, Tug

CHris,

These are the dimensions of the one I purchased off here, which is the slightly smaller one.

LUFF 25ft 9"
LEECH 22ft 10"
FOOT 17ft 4"

At least that was as advertised, I never have actually measured it myself. :-) But it flys well, just wanted something a little bit bigger for the lighter winds.
