Re: Bilge pump location

As for the source of rainwater leaks (we have plenty in Somerset too!) I have a suspicion regarding the mast step, which I shall be unbolting for inspection and resealing soon. I shall also be reseating the vent above the head.

Re: Bilge pump location

There is a removable section of sole board in my bilge keeler, which is in the section immediately forward of the engine compartment, under which the electric bilge pump is fitted. This is not the lowest point, which is two sections further forward when ashore and resting on her keels. My manual bil...

Re: Insurance Survey

I spotted an ad in the back of PBO this month pointing at a website called perils-of-the-policy.co.uk, which catalogues the writer's experience of dealing with GJW as his broker of a policy for a £200k risk. Having read his claims, I am wondering what success S27OA owners have had in claiming agains...

Re: Floorboards on Sabre 27

I have photographed mine, which is a dinette version. The main section is a parallel sided piede and there is a shaped section to either side, with a removable piece above the bilge pump. You can see that the full length cosmetic board is loose and can be removed , allowing the section above the bilg...

Re: Ship to shore Electricity supply

I put in a 220V system in my new boat, much larger than a Sabre, using a domestic consumer unit with an RCD and MCBs on each circuit, bringing the power in via a galvanic isolator, to reduce the danger of stray current corrosion. I am considering fitting similar to my Sabre. For that I would just us...

Re: replace fuel tank

I had mine steam cleaned, a sump and drain fitted and L-shaped strips added to the lower corners by a stainless welder in Plymouth. Can't remember who now, but it was a decent job and saved a slightly moth-eaten tank, adding the ability to sample fuel from the lowest point via a valve in the engine ...
