Re: New rudder ? Sabre mk 1 fin keel

Whereabouts in Spain? I spent a winter in Almerimar and there were a lot of boats in the yard there. It's a good place for British sailors as many of the support businesses are British owned or English-speaking. Their rates are here: http://almerimarpuerto.com/general-rates-2020/?lang=en

Re: Headlining and side panels for Mark 2 on Samphire

Thanks Ken, I'll have a look. later . . . Found it. I wonder what he used where he has mentioned "gutter". I suppose ordinary half round guttering might do the job. It certanly describes my construction and has given me some good ideas. Sea Spear actually had some wooden window surrounds l...

Re: Headlining and side panels for Mark 2 on Samphire

Thanks. I have a feeling that my athwartships members stop at the outer end of the raised section of the moulding, and the vinyl follows the curve up to and just into the raised area. I think I shall need to have a good look once the panels are down, and consider bonding some outboard longitudinal s...

Re: Headlining and side panels for Mark 2 on Samphire

Ken: I am doing similar on Sea Spear (you will remember her from HSSC when I co-owned her with Bill Padgham). How have you attached the strips at the edge of the roof above the windows, that carry the curtain tracks, to the GRP? I suppose you could use screws through the moulding from outside into t...

Re: Fitting a bigger engine

Next time I am on board, I shall be doing some careful measurement of the beds and engine box. Currently there are angle iron bearers bolted to the vertical beds, with wooden beds on top of those. I suspect that I shall be able to fit longer beds to the angle iron if required as the overhangs will b...

Fitting a bigger engine

As I shall be sailing in the Bristol Channel rather than the previous Solent or Plymouth waters, I need a bigger engine, so am looking at the stock of used engines at http://www.marineenterprisesltd.co.uk/ and wondering what would be the best replacement for my Yanmar 1GM10. The 3GM30 looks like it ...

Just an ordinary Vax branded domestic one, but with a vicious rotating nozzle, which says "Do not use on Vehicles"

Re: Intro/new member

I paid £600 to have Sea Spear transported from Plymouth to Weston-super-Mare and £200 for the crane to unload. Cash in hand deal.

Re: Membership applications

Handy to know - Here is a very sad looking Sea Spear as she appeared at Uphill before the Attack by Jetwash

Well, it would have been but my iPhone photo is too large.

Later: and now it isn't, but another 5 minute embuggerance which doesn't occur on FB.

The advantage of Farcebook is its ability to show photos, which are extremely useful for boat discussions.
