Re: Gibb winches maintenance

Hi, I am not an expert, but have done the research as I faced the same problem when I first bought my boat. I have lewmar winches, but they were stuck on as well, so you have my sympathy! http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?386337-Tips-needed-for-Gibbs-winch-removal According to this http://www...

Genoa dimensions for Mk2 sabre

Hi, Does anybody know the correct Luff, Leech and Foot dimensions for a Genoa for the Mark 2? The technical manual only lists the square footage and it would be nice to be a little more accurate before splashing the cash! The correct dimensions for the mainsail would also be helpful, although clearl...

I did it from iPad and I am no expert. If you struggle to find it, I will run it on my laptop and mail you the proper link.

Re: Gibb winches maintenance

Search for service Gibb winches on Google. Follow link to westerley centaur winches. Click Serviced winches, go to 8th thread down and there is a link to a how too page with pictures and instructions. If you are short of a cleaner, diesel does a good job of dissolving old grease.

Re: The big question

Hi ken, Thank you for your constructive comments. In no particular order. 1) I have now fitted a substantial grabrail inside the fore cabin on the heads wall. This has made a big difference and has the advantage of being unobtrusive. It really needs another, either on the side rails in the fore cabi...

The big question

I am sure we have all had our heads turned by the Bavaria, but a quick glance at prices is a refreshing splash of sea spray. Having said that, my mind turned to the possibility of moving on from my Sabre. Jeaneau, Moody or Sadler appeared to be possibilities, but a quick look at prices, for used boa...

Radio issues

Has any one out there got a Radio, Stingray 5600, by NASA marine, also goes under the Aquamarine brand. Whilst I can hear broadcasts by other stations clearly, I am getting comments that my transmissions are faint. Have any of you a similar experience or suggestions, or has the time come for me to b...

Re: Replacement cockpit engine hatch

I am puzzled by your claim it is unsafe. Have you had it off yet, or does it feel flimsy underfoot? Mine was removed several years ago. I discovered the timber stiffeners were rotten and waterlogged, this allowed the hatch to 'flex' as it now had no support. I cut these out and replaced with new tim...

Re: Set of unused rigging for sale

This is just an idle enquiry as my Sabre 27 is 5 years in from her last survey. Can you please confirm mast length and do you have manufacturers sales invoice and test certification? Samphire, on web site. Best. Chris
