So many of us are probably in he process of launching ready for the new season! Sp what did you do, what didn't you do, what went well and what went badly?

I did...

Rudder tang replacement and rebuild
Fixed the cracks at top of the skeg
Installed a Hyspeed anchor windlass
Installed a NASA AIS radar (£20 second hand...bargain!)
Beefed up port shroud plate
Totally rebuilt heads "shelf" with steel frame as per handbook
Repainted heads & hanging locker
Replaced cutless bearing
Replaced bottom rudder bearing
Replaced gland packing
Machine polished top sides and hull (very shiny now!)
Repaired my broken stbd genoa winch...with carbon fibre!
Redid antifoul, boot top, oiled woodwork
Re-sealed rubbing strakes
Fitted smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Renewed all seacocks with DZR

I never...

Did the headlining
Insulated the focsle
Installed LED lighting
Fitted my davits
Finished my cockpit footbrace
Modified my chart table.

Oh well, maybe next year!

My winter work list was very curtailed this year as I was away sailing for 3 months in a sunny place, not on the Sabre, sorry to say, but total bliss. Heh heh.

All cockpit woodwork stripped of hellish chocolate coloured stain varnish and redone with lovely warm varnish. Cockpit grating part repaired and stripped.

Topsides, various dinks etc filled and along with other damaged areas made good, colour paint blown in and remainder cut in and polished

Sprayhood and mainsail cover scrubbed clean and re waterproofed.

Usual engine service, anode replacement and antifouling. Launching tomorrow Thursday.

Last year on a thread there was discussion re propellers and the various ways forumites try to keep the critters and other growth at bay. Last year was the first time i had tried just polishing the prop to a high shine and am delighted to say it worked a treat with 3 barnacles only and a very very small bit of weedy growth. Having said that the boatyard reported low levels of barnacles last year, so maybe it was the water conditions last year.

Most excitingly, finished up rebuilding top end of my Yanmar 1GM10.

Head skimmed and valves ground, injector checked etc. Put it back together and it ran! Wonderful!

Other list too long - all the usuals, tidy this, sort that, renew the other.

Bigger jobs left undone included still not remodelling the cool box area, renewing the engine mounts (not sure they're needed; just old),
repainting the deck (just couldn't raise the head of steam needed to get on with it) and more but now launch-day beckons.

So that's it for this year I guess.
