Hello all,

Great new forum Paul - well done!

I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me where I could find a replacement exhaust elbow for my Yanmar YSE 12.

The existing elbow has developed a catastrophic crack down the side and needs urgent attention as shown below:

Many thanks,

Nick

Try putting the part number into Google and see what that brings.

Usually Yanmar parts are very much cheaper in the US and Europe, but Yanmar have restrictions on distributors selling outside their territory, so you may be forced to pay a lot more than the part is worth

All the best

Hi Nick,
These are the best UK people for old engines. there's not much they don't know about them and they keep a good stock of spares, you'll be lucky to source anything this old abroad I would think. I assume this is a casting and not a fabication.

Me again,

Just a thought, you may be able to make a very temporary repair by cleaning and rubbing down around the crack and sealing over it with Araldite 'proper', not rapid. Hold it in place with Sellotape or similar while is sets, 24hrs. I have done this successfully on a couple of occasions while awaiting spares.

I got a pal to fabricate one for my 1GM10 in stainless. It cost me about the same as a real one, but will last for ever, being made of mush beefier material. It's also rather longer than standard to reduce the possibility of water going back up the exhaust port, which killed a brand new head in 2 years. Luckily the same pal was able to machine the port out to a circular section and bond a length of 316 stainless tube into it with JB Weld, which seems to have worked well.

Hi all,

Thanks very much for all your advice. I managed to find a new one from Marine Power, Bursledon. And I managed to fit it myself - amazing!

Thanks

Nick

All came in with identical prices (excluding delivery):

£117.12 plus VAT

Exhaust elbow gasket
