Anyone fitted Self tailing Genoa winches;
Do they work very well, not being able to wind through 360
Anyone changed the guard rails there is a gap to enable 360 ?

Cheers

Hi

I fitted a pair of Lewmar EVO ST16 winches during the first year I had Apogee. Would certainly not go back! It is a bit of a pain not being able to wind all the way round, but it is still easier than the no self tailers.

Have never considered changing the guard rails to be fair.

Thanks Ian,

Did they fit easily or did you have to make new holes, I assume its a case of a long arm reaching up from the inner berths to loosen Nuts and bolts?

Hi

New holes, and yes take down the lining and unbolt the old winch, mark and drill new holes. I didn't fill the old holes as the new ones were far enough away to be safe, but I guess you could fill and lay up some reinforcement. But it is SOLIDLY built on the coaming

2 people make it a total breeze.

Good luck.
