Earlier this year we had a power spike which literally blew up our Clipper Duet log/depth sounder. Clouds of smoke and a loud bang.

The local marine electronics guys said 'buy a new one' but we spoke to Nasa who were extremely helpful and friendly. We sent it to them on Wednesday, they fixed it on Thursday and we had it back on Friday, in full working order. Total cost inc P&P £35.00

They then gave us some excellent advice to stop it happening again, and sent a letter setting it all out in writing.

Great service

Hi Neil and welcome to the Forum,

How about adding the bones of the preventative advice on your existing post (click on 'Edit post' - make the addition/alteration and post it)

A lot of Sabres have Nasa instruments so this would be of great interest.

PS.
You can copy and paste from any program into your posting, quite convenient sometimes.

Hi Paul

Thanks, its great to be here.

For some reason I couldn't edit. But anyway - of course we should have added the details !

Very simple, just ensure that they are protected by a 0.25 amp quick blowing fuse, available from Maplins.

As our switch panel has the duet on the same circuit as the VHF etc we inserted an in line fuse just before the log.
