I have been advised by a surveyer that my keel should be dropped toy examin the state of the keel bolts, anyone had experience of this work carried out.
From the lack of response I am inclined to think perhaps keel bolts are not a common problem with the Sabre, or perhaps I am a little impatient. The reason for my concern is my insurers state I am covered subject to the surveyors recomendations being carried out,I myself have complete confidence in the security of the keel.

Mine were changed by the last owner...I believe they were x-rayed by a specialist surveyor first and checked out OK, however they were still changed. I can't really tell you any more than that, other than look up the name of the South Coast company which did the work if that's any good, but it would have been some time ago. I've got some pictures of the boat minus her keel somewhere too if it's of any interest...

Hi Ian, it seems that keel bolts are not a common problem with the Sabre, perhaps someone will come forward with more information in time. I might perhaps make enquiries with a view to having them Xrayed,

Perhaps you should ask your insurer what they mean by covered subject to the surveyors recommendations being carried out. Do they mean that without dropping your keel and examining your keel bolts you are not covered by insurance at all (if say your boat were to catch fire or you were to suffer a collision) or that you are simply not covered in the event that your keel bolts fail?

Hi Lottie, thanks for that, I have thought about it, I would think logicaly I should be covered for any event not caused by the keel bolt failure, I will make enquiries from my broker.
Ron.
